Ira Chernus (chernus@colorado.edu) is Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he has been teaching courses on the history of Judaism (as well as lots of other subjects) for over 30 years. For all those years he has also been an activist promoting peace between Israel and Palestine. His writings have appeared in many newspapers across the nation and on websites including commondreams.org, alternet.org, tomdispatch.com, truthout.org, religionsdispatches.org, and fpif.org. He is also a frequent guest on talk radio around the country. And he is proud to say that, with the recent birth of his grandniece, he has three generations of close family living in Israel.
